Kevin McHugh

Orbits, Connections, and Collisions

June 14 - July 3

Opening Reception Saturday June 17

5-9pm

Closing Reception Sunday, July 2

1-5pm

McHugh’s artwork deals with the obsessive collection of found objects from the streets of Los Angeles and beyond. The result could be a “head”, “torso”, “base” assemblage of fragments of concrete, metal, wood, glass, plastic; et all. Some are free standing, some require a shelf. Others hang on the wall. He’s been told that they have an animated, lifelike quality to them; but who knows what goes through his mind in their creation. This observer would suggest that some of the world is dying to know…

Kevin McHugh was born (September 7th,1959) and raised in Port Chester, New York. He moved to Arizona in September 1977 to study electronic engineering for two years. Failing miserably; he persued his teenage interest in photography and played a lot of frisbee. He received an associate’s degree in art(photo) from Mesa College in May 1984. McHugh then moved to Valencia, California in September 1984 to study photography at California Institute Of The Arts. Kevin received his BFA in photography in May 1986. He’s been living and breathing and making art in Los Angeles now for almost 37 years.
