Analog Presense
October 25, 2025 - November 2, 2025
Opening Reception: Saturday October 25, 2025
Keystone Gallery is proud to present Analog Presence, a new solo exhibition by Melanie Mandl, opening October 25, 2025 and running through November 2, 2025.
In Analog Presence, Mandl returns to the tactile immediacy of painting, embracing vibrant forms and bold compositions as a way to reconnect with the physical act of making. In a world increasingly dominated by the digital, her work insists on the value of touch, gesture, and direct engagement with materials.
This body of work pulses with rhythm and color, weaving together fantastical machines, botanical forms, and symbolic fragments into compositions that feel both otherworldly and deeply human. The exhibition features a dynamic range of paintings and sculptural relief works, each buzzing with Mandl’s signature visual vocabulary: neon palettes, surrealist forms, and symbolic hybrids that fuse the mechanical with the organic. Pipes, tendrils, eyes, flames, and flowering shapes intertwine across the canvases, building intricate systems that feel both playful and enigmatic.
Several of the works extend beyond the canvas, incorporating sculptural elements that blur the boundary between painting and object. These three-dimensional experiments deepen Mandl’s exploration of analog presence, as forms emerge into the viewer’s space, demanding a bodily encounter rather than a mediated one.
Mandl’s works resist easy categorization. They are at once whimsical and strange, meditative and electric, conjuring dreamlike ecosystems where every element feels alive and interconnected.
